Overview
NRatings is a freeware application which allows users of the simracing game NASCAR Racing 2003 Season (NR2003) to update the ratings in the .car files. This can either be done manually, but the real strength of NRatings is that it allows you to apply ratings according to real-life results and statistics of NASCAR races. This guarantees the simracer an "as close as possible to the real deal" offline racing experience against the AI controlled cars.
The user has a choice of different predefined formula sets to use to apply those automatic ratings, or he can choose to write his own formulas.
Besides NASCAR, other various real-life series (like ARCA, IROC, IRL, F1, ...) are supported in order to be able to apply real ratings to different mods of NR2003.
NRatings uses the excellent website http://www.racing-reference.info as source to update its local database with racing results.
Features
- Adjust the individual car ratings manually.
- Bulk update the multiple car ratings with randomizing, value addition or multiplying, or to an absolute value
- Update the car ratings automatically according to real-life racing results and statistics. Stats can be chosen by individual race, by season, or even by spanning multiple seasons.
- Use the predefined formulas, or write your own formulas to calculate the ratings according to the real-life stats.
- Change the car file's driver's first and last name from within the application
- Create car rosters for ingame usage of selected cars.
- Works with all installed mods of NR2003
- Supports both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows environments from Windows Vista onwards.
System Requirements
- A Windows based PC with at least Windows XP. The program might work on previous versions of Windows, but this has not been tested. It has also not been tested on the Windows XP 64-bit edition (which was not very popular anyway).
- Of course, the game NASCAR Racing 2003 Season itself
- The Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5. This is installed by default on modern Windows based computers, but just in case, you can download it here.
- To update your local racing stats database, you need a working Internet Connection. Also make sure no firewall or other protection mechanism is blocking Internet access of NRatings.

just wondering if this new version will let us include data from non-points events like the 150′s and the showdown? Sometimes a driver/team, especially in the past, would run only those races. Also, will it include DNQ data?

No, because these results are structured differently on the racing-reference.info website than the regular season races.
It will require me to write a separate parsing routine for them. But it’s on the todo list.

Love your program and it has been working great up until today. All of a sudden it will not display the year, 2010 as a checkbox in any of the Series (Sprint, Nationwide, Camping World, etc.) and none of the races and their results will display for any Series or year.

Raincg-Reference.info has changed its internal URL system last week. The current version of NRatings is therefore not compatible anymore with this website.
Working on a fix, but can’t tell a release date yet. Please be patient.

Just a question. Does nratings include driver historical stats when he changed numbers? Example Dale Jr was #8. Is his performance as #8 included when updating?

Hello Tjeuten. GREAT program. I’m promoting your program alot… I want to let you know that i’ve started doing track.ini updates based off the COT’s and how they currently run at the tracks… they are down to exact detail like corner entering, middle, exit speeds and what not… I just wanted to let you know that this program is awesome, I wrote a code that keeps the driver stats PERFECT and goes right with these INI’s

this is pretty awesome. I hope NRatings exists until NR2003 Season is too old to run on anyone’s computer. Great job! Just one suggestion though. It may sound kind of abstract, but I think it would be cool if there was a way to auto-match car numbers to drivers in any given selected series. This would make it easier to move rosters to different mods. Not sure how difficult it would be as I’m not a programmer, but would be darn neat! Anyway thanks!

Are you seriously running F1 races inside NR2003 ? There are better sims to do that imo.
But anyway, F1 was included in earlier versions but I decided to ditch it because the structure was too different from the other results and caused a bit trouble in the database.
But if demand is high, I’ll see to introduce it again.

the ISS mod coming out soon will be based almost entirely on formula one…there are better sims to do it in, but not on a low-end PC like my laptop, and not with a keyboard like when i’m out of the house

There won’t be a 2.5.4. It’ll be 3.0.0 (at least) and as mentioned, it’ll take a couple of weeks… please just be patient and take a holiday and some time away from racing if you really can’t race without NRatings

As said, you can use it to rate races up until Loudon this year for Sprint Cup … for more recent races, you’ll have to wait for the new version
